FAC Connect
Future Art and Culture Connect is a BU initiative that seeks to support emerging talent from those currently underrepresented in the creative tech sector. For SxSW 2023, British Underground in association B3 Media will offer support to participants through FAC Connect providing funding, soft skills development, support, and access to SxSW for an invited cohort of artists, producers and creative tech professionals seeking international entry to this sector.
Marc Boothe, Founder/Creative Producer, B3 Media
Marc is the Founder and Creative Catalyst of B3 Media, a leading creative technology network that has supported 3,000+ creatives over the last 15 years across film, new media, visual and performing arts. Marc conceived and produced the virtual artist showcase and jam session Digital Diaspora and Nubian Tales, the first multicultural film festival and film club in the UK in the 1990s before founding B3. Since 2020, Marc has launched B3 Origin, a creative mentorship programme, and TalentLab XR, an immersive technology incubator for artists of color. Marc is a (voting) member of BAFTA, Academy of International Extended Reality (AIXR) and the recipient of a NESTA Fellowship.
RCL Graham
RCL Graham is a writer/director, producer, editor, Unreal Engine developer and animator, whose work spans various media formats including films, documentaries, animations and VR. RCL Graham has recently produced a BFI NETWORK awarded short film and is currently working on a BFI funded VR experience. Through her participation in B3 Origin and B3 Talentlab XR, she has had the opportunity to learn from industry leaders, producing projects that tend to explore human emotion. Her desire to make Afrofuturist work has come from a place of self exploration of her own past and history as well as her love for scientific theory.
Emilie Dubois
Emilie is a creative producer with a background in filmmaking, photography and interactive media production. She is a graduate of the University of Westminster's Contemporary Media Practice course and a Creative Producing for Digital Platforms alumna from the NFTS. She worked in the camera and production departments on award-winning short films, documentaries and web series. She recently produced The Underestimated Villain, a short animation directed by Comfort Arthur and commissioned by Comic Relief and GSK for malaria awareness campaigns throughout Africa. It was an official selection at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and won Best Animation at the BSIFF.
Gopal Dutta
Gopal Dutta (he/him) is a multidisciplinary artist working with text, drawing and painting in Huddersfield, UK. He has exhibited drawings at Islington Mill in Salford (2018) and created ‘zines for sale at fairs and festivals. He works as a web librarian at Manchester Metropolitan University and graduated with a BA (Hons.) in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University (2002). His current project Tree Love is an augmented reality app that allows you to creatively combine your own art with your favourite trees and patterns in nature.
